Fragile, please don't break !

To break or not to break, here is a good question. For the next season some designers propose a Craquele/Crakle finishing on some of their pieces, whether leather or textile.
Gucci FW 2013-14; Balenciaga FW 2013-14; Alexander Wang FW 2013-14.

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, is this true ?

To celebrate Spring, Supreme launched a collaboration with Vans. The classic Vans Shoe got a floral print as if it was an artist canvas. I'm in love with these sneakers, especially the textured fabric used.
The floral print was inspired by the 19th century french artist Henri Fantin-Latour work "A Basket of Roses".
I'm not a fan of still lifes but these one has a little something, maybe are the resemblances with FLT logo that made me appreciate it.
Here are some floral looks suggestions: black & white from Stella McCartney; green & pink roses from Marc Jacobs; blue pants from Matthew Williamson; floral dress from Stella McCartney; Biker jacket from Rag & Bone.

New Wave

Appart from my lack of interest in sports, I've been noticing that a lot of brands are betting on surf clothes for this summer. These lycra "t-shirt" (for the unacquainted like me) were created for surfers to warm up and protect from the sun, but I guess they will play another function this summer. These rash guards will be a wave on the beaches this summer !
JCrew floral rashie; JCrew stripe and flower rashie; Madewell floral rashie. The JCrew rashguards have UPF 50. (UPF is the SPF mesurement for textiles)
These graphic rashies are both from Seea.

The not so orthopedic shoes

Last week passing by Miu Miu store I saw a pair of sandals that reminded me of what were once described as the world's ugliest shoes - the BIRKENSTOCK. I don't know what do you think about this shoes, but in my opinion they are ugly, ok they can be the most comfortable shoes in the world, but for sure you can find a pair of shoes that can be a good compromise between style and comfort, no ? They look like orthopedic shoes and they also remind me the shoes that my aunt that lived in Germany had in the entrance of her house. Nothing against my aunt, only against the shoes! After Celine Spring-Summer 2013 a lof of fashionistas are getting crazy with the birks, not me...
Birkenstock VS Miu Miu
The not so orthopedic shoes, a good option to the birks right ?

A lot of celebrities have joined this trend. Here the Olsen Twins and Drew Barrymore.

Like Mother Like Daughter

Chanel Spring-Summer 2013 advertising campaign caught my attention in a good way. A minimalist scenario inspired by the Japanese Tea houses featuring two very young models and the renowned 42 year old model Stella Tennant. The images seem to show a mother and daughter everyday life scene, beside the messy room photo (your mother would never let you to left the room like this). The message in these photos is clearly: Chanel's timeless, elegant and feminine signature style will fit you regardless your age Beside the implicit message, the collection is just beautiful, the sleek and minimal clothes in black and white combos with primary colours popping out. We love you Karl !
The messy room, an antitheses of the Like Mother Like Daughter or not ?!

The Bigger the Better

In a recent travel to South America I was suprised with their obsession with boobs and butts. It's not big news that Latinos are really into boobs and butts, you can see it in Jennifer Lopez (a Puerto Rican descendent) or Pitbull (a Cuban descendent) videos. I just didn't know they were so big, sorry I meant HUGE bOObs AND butts. Everywhere I went during my trip to Venezuela I could see women with these huge breast implants, that seem to be made on the closest butcher and not on an aesthetic surgery doctor. By coincidence I found out that a friend of mine had breast implants when she was in her 20's, she told me that all  of her friends had it. She also confided me that "some girls have breast implants by their 15th or 18th anniversary". I WAS SHOCKED ! Beside breast implants a lot of women had butt implants, even the manequinns on the shop windows had these huge butts. It's very interesting when travelling to a different country to understand the beauty stereotypes and  women's obsession with some beauty standards and how they influence the perception and the changes on their own body.

2012 FOOD RECAP

I love to eat, specially international food. I love to try new tastes. As a child when travelling with my parents we we're always trying the restaurants with the best tasty food and they taught me that food makes part of the cultural heritage of a country. Food plays a big role in my life, I'm enjoying more and more to cook and try different food. This year I've had different food experiences, here are some of them.
"Ali Baba", turkish tea with rose flavour VS photo from this year's travel to Barcelona.
 Cheese Crêpes VS Tobias Tovera
"Cotton Candy", from Turkey VS wool.
Tomatoes and spinach pie(diy) VS "Hanging Heart" (Jeff Koons,2006)
Photo from this year's travel to Stockholm VS Sonia Delaunay painting.
Arepa peluda (traditional Venezuelan food) VS french macaron.
